Opus Posth / Tatyana Grindenko (lead violin, music director) Perm Academic Choir Mlada Selections from the premiere in Perm (Russia). September 17, 2009 Children of the Otter is a suite written by a renowned contemporary Russian composer Vladimir Martynov for Huun Huur Tu, chamber orchestra, and choir. The composition blends Tuvan folk music from Huun Huur Tu repertoire with original music by V. Martynov. Children of the Otter incorporates lyrics by Velimir Khlebnikov, famous Russian avantgarde poet of early 20th century whose art successfully combined archaic, contemporary, and futuristic sensibilities. In V. Martynov's words, Children of the Otter is a composition that aims at providing a listener with a path to immersing into the ever-existing stream of eternal music, the music that brings together spirits of animal, human, and heavenly spheres.
